…past, present, future are all in attendance here. Memories of the places we've been, realizations of the life we lead and reflections of a future that might be, are of interest to me and are available in my work. One affects the other as mood creates bridges that span time. Just as a nightmare might weigh heavy on the day, the memory of a circus long ago might brighten, even enhance the future.
I utilize any and all tools that might enable these reflections: snapshots, snips of news stories, songs, and memories. Seemingly unrelated, they all represent pieces of a present that lives and breathes with a pulse all its own. Some of the works shown here are more abstracted and formal and some works are more representational and narrative. It is my intention to not be strictly categorized as either a representational artist or a non-objective artist.
In my recent compositions, the critical mass of visual relationships occur in such a way as to allow the viewer to revisit the work and experience it in a different way. The result is a kind of natural pictorial fiction that takes on many elastic identities.
Whether dark and murky, or bright and airy, mood is everything. Compositions that don't necessarily inhabit the entire viewing surface: allowing the viewer to invent completion, maintain the mystery of past present and future.
